Yesterday and today I was challenged by going out to a restaurant to eat. Yesterday my friend wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant and I knew this before starting the day. To prepare, I ate my usual breakfast and drank water all day. At lunch time I had a salad but no chicken this time, saving more calories for dinner. At dinner I turned down a margarita (used the excuse that I am on blood pressure medicine and can't have alcohol which is true) and ordered steak fajitas with no salt added. I only ate about 1/3 of the steak fajitas and took the rest home for my husband. I only ate 5 tortilla chips.
Today I went to lunch with a friend. We went to Applebees and I chose the pick 2 lunch special, grilled oriental chicken salad and chicken tortilla soup. I only ate half the soup and all of the salad and was very satisfied. Again choosing water as my beverage. I managed to stay under what SparkPeople suggest I eat for lunch.
Before, I would have also ordered the brownie bite but to me it just was't worth the extra calories and also found out my friend is allergic to dairy now.
