Jillian Michaels Body Revolution Phase 1 Cardio 1 - Day 3

So this one I tried about a week and half ago, just to see what this whole Body Revolution was going to be like. It killed me then, and it killed me again today.

The best thing about Cardio 1: I sweat. A lot. For only being 26 minutes, I burned 256 calories (I have a heart rate monitor). The circuit has about 8 moves that cycles through, and there is good variety to the moves and alternates between arms and legs. But you're constantly moving.

The worst thing about Cardio 1: Somewhat the opposite of what I just said about there being variety in the moves, but is still the hardest part for me; she runs through the same circuit 3 times. I'm aware that it's tough to call this the 'worst' thing, I should really just say the part I like least, because it's still a good workout. My brain is strange; no matter how long and varied a circuit may be, I have the mental capacity to run through it twice, whether it's 2 moves, or 18. The third time, I am ready to move on to something else, and I don't have quite the same enthusiasm to run through it again. And if that's the 'worst' thing I can say about this DVD...

General comments: I love her banter with the people in the video. It seems fairly natural and unscripted, and it's borderline too cheesy but somehow is still motivating. When I first started the program, I was a little nervous about having to watch 10 extremely hot and fit people workout everyday; celebrity bodies are not a realistic goal and yet that's what I get to look at for motivation. While it's nice to see that sculpted abs and arms are possible, I would really like to find a realistic role model that I still find attractive and fit. I'm working on it.

The Running Man was the hardest for me (Jillian calls it that, but to me it's skiing. But then, she lives in L.A, I live in Canada). Like I mentioned yesterday, I don't have great range of motion, so swinging arms and legs back and forth is tough. Plus it's a higher impact than I usually do, so it was toughest cardio -wise. I think how well I am able to do them by the end of the month will be a good test of my progress.

Kick Outs were tough too, and Suicides are never pleasant, but for the most part, I was quite capable of doing the exercises as they are suppose to be done. Always going to push my hardest!

    This series is the best I have done ever.The reason I like it so much is because she only goes through each circuit twice on the strength days. I can't do the cardio. Will try again on Saturday. My feet cramp so bad it isn't funny. I know that she doesn't show very many ways to modify the cardio but there are. Like fast feet... Just lift your heels really fast one at a time. The running man, slid your feet back and forth and move your arms as high as you can. You will get there.
Just wait til you get to weeks 3 and 4. By then you will be flying through the first 2 weeks. I did 3 and 4 for the first time this week. My legs still hurt. But I like it!!!!! Keep us updated on your progress.
