A Healthy Heart Reminder For An Office Who Needs It!

Throughout the past week - I have watched so many of my office mates slide after a month of weight loss. (no wonder why we only did a month of biggest loser last year - apparently that's all some of us can take!) It seems like every day there is a new completely unhealthy treat being brought in for the masses and people are caving in easily.

I kept thinking to myself - what can I do as a reminder without being preachy and over baring. Then it hit me - a healthy Valentines snack! And then I remembered - February is Heart Disease Awareness Month! Why not incorporate heart healthy foods, things cut in the shapes of hearts, and Valentines day for a trifecta! As a construction company who works for one of the leading pediatric heart institutes in the country each day - we know those on the front lines with this cause and work with them each day - we should be setting a better example.

So far - I'm bring in mixed nuts, dark chocolate squares, Oatmeal Packets, Hummus and Fresh Black Bean Salsa and fruits and veggies cut with heart cookie cutters - and setting up an area in one of the conference rooms with little tidbits on why each food is heart healthy.

I'm really hoping to expand/change/plan my ideas by next week - and to really encourage others to change their thoughts on foods we bring to the office to share. Any ideas from fellow sparkers are encouraged!

    I've got not ideas off the top of my head; however, Chef Meg has some awesome recipe ideas here on the web page. emoticon

  what a great idea. Only thing I can think of is maybe whole grain bread with peanut butter? (cut out with heart cookie cutters of course.)
