This morning I was in a big rush. I headed out the door without breakfast. I stopped by my local gas station for a cup of their legendary coffee, used fat free creamer and Splenda. I was looking at the pre-packaged, road ready breakfast items. Powdered mini-donuts, Raspberry and cream cheese iced danish, cinnamon buns as big as my face. No way man. So I make what I think is a reasonable purchase of a coffee-flavored muffin. no frosting or filling or chocolate or candies, just a straight up muffin. The front label even said it had no trans fat. Go me! I ate it between sips of coffee as I finished my walk to work (yeah I am walking too because I rock so effin hard) feeling pretty pleased with myself that I didnt get a sausage egg and cheese biscuit or a double-stuffed breakfast burrito. I tucked the muffin wrapper away until I could add it into my tracker.
Which I just did. And did a triple take and them curse the Gods of Gas-station Gastronomy (which exist)
710 calories, 45 grams of fat.
For a 6oz muffin that I barely remember eating and didnt even really like the taste of.
I learned my lesson. Planning and packing is the way to go. Go tricky food doesnt sneak up on me and ninjakick my diet in the junk. And when I have to eat on the fly I need to know what I am getting into before I take that first bite.
