Breakfast?!

Thursday, February 07, 2013

In the UK we are frequently told that Breakfast "is the most important meal of the day".

For years (20+) I never ate breakfast and held a fairly consistent weight and food intake.
After much nagging I started to eat first thing in the morning, even if it felt like it was choking me!
The result was that I found myself constantly hungry throughout the day and, therefore, ate!

So, I've stopped eating breakfast again.
The result, I'm not particularly interested in food until nearer lunchtime, I feel more alert and I am seeing the start of some weight loss - without cutting back too far on my lunch and dinner. In fact, I even find I am leaving some of my evening meal because I feel full.

For me, personally, breakfast is not the most important meal of the day!!

I can't subscribe to every expert opinion, either. As we say here in the States, the proof is in the puddin'. You're not eating breakfast and you're losing weight and feeling satisfied. Perfect!! Good luck to you!!

Very interesting blog. My husband is like you.... almost never eats breakfast. Although he is a little overweight, anyone looking at him would not think that. I'm rather grateful he does not eat breakfast, since his favorite breakfast is eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Whopping amount of fat and carbs.

I, on the other hand, do better with breakfast in the first hour after I awake. I guess we all need to look at our own metabolism and the effects of food.

I think it depends on your body. My dh and older dd have never been morning eaters and their weight has not suffered from it. For me it's the other way around. emoticon

I think everyone is different and your body builds on what's its been trained to do. I always eat breakfast but try to make it a late breakfast 10ish. This allows me to have a light lunch and then I have a mid snack.

I find if I eat an early breakfast - i'm hungry all day.
