Time to make a change....

Back in 2007 when I was at my (then) heaviest weight I had ever been; I decided to get active, and joined Curves gym. I lost about 50lbs over a number of months, and I was feeling pretty great. Then to my amazement I found out I was pregnant. My husband, and I had been together for 6yrs, and I was sure it was never going to happen. I ended up gaining around 54lbs while I was pregnant with my son. I struggled with depression, and found out I had hypothyroidism. Once I got on medication I was hoping the pounds would start coming off, but unfortunately I just continued to gain... and gain. I have a huge problem with emotional eating, and it seemed like there was always something going wrong that made me want a chocolate bar, or I was so tired after work I just wanted to stop at McDonalds for dinner. I joined a gym, and started to feel great, but then I would miss a few days, and get anxious about going back. The turning point for me was when my (now 4yr old) son was playing with me, and said "Mommy, why is your leg so fat?" He didn't mean it to be hurtful, but that was probably the most painful thing I have ever heard. I came across an article on Huffington post about people losing large amounts of weight, and saw several of the people had mentioned using Spark People to help them with their weight loss. I am so glad that I found this website, and I am hoping to eventually have a success story to share of my own.

    I too had the "going back to the gym" fears. The gym hubby and I are going to right now probably isn't the best fit for me. I find even after joining they have pushed their personal training packages. Who can afford that in this economy right? We also have transportation issues. I just let it all get to me and get me down. I quit going and I quit eating right as well. I'm back on track and hubby and I will be switching back to the old gym.

Spark People does help you lose weight. I think my biggest problem before was my shyness. I didn't accept the support that I should have. If you need some just ask! :D

    Kids! Just no filters on those things! ;) Still, in the distant distant future you'll be healthy enough to laugh at him while his kids embarrass him! Hypothyroidism is hard; I completely understand the fatigue and that oh-so-easy siren call of a fast food dinner.
