Proud of Myself Today

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

Today could have been a disaster. I woke up tired and grumpy. I went to work tired and grumpy. The boys at work had pizza for lunch. I thought I would be tempted but they got deep dish with sausage and pepperoni.

I DON'T LIKE PEPPERONI ON PIZZA.

It completely prevented me from wanting any pizza! If it had been plain cheese or veggies I would have CRAVED some.

I think part of it had to do with my lunch. I had a cup of low-sodium Trader Joe's tomato soup, 1.6 oz of Italian bread, 1 oz. extra sharp cheddar, 1 cup of sliced carrot "chips". It filled me up so well!

I was in a better mood after lunch, as the guys usually cheer me up because they're so funny. Plus all THREE dogs were well-behaved today, even if they were a little noisy. My co-worker Gail brought her dog Lucy in, and the boy pups (Bingley and Teddy) didn't bug her too badly.

When I got home... I took the meat out of the fridge to come to room temp, and then changed into my workout clothes to do 30DS, since I knew dinner would only take a half hour to cook. I got my 30DS DONE and started dinner (the mushroom swiss burgers from last week I never made).

I decided I would eat mine without a roll. So I had a 3 oz. 93% lean burger patty, 1 oz. swiss cheese, 1.5 oz. portobella mushrooms and 1/4 cup sliced onions along with 10 tater tots and one tbsp balsamic ketchup. Mmm.

I didn't miss the bun!

I'm also in a much better mood having exercised. Tomorrow night we're having Bean & Turkey Sausage Tostada cups. I'm not sure what the recipe is, I'm making it up! I have leftover corn tortillas that I'm going to bake in muffin tins to make shells and I'm going to stuff them with turkey sausage and smashed beans. Hope they're good! lol.

Hopefully tomorrow I will WAKE UP in a good mood instead of having to finagle myself into one. ;)

The mushroom swiss burger sounds really really good...might have to pick up some lean ground beef on my next shopping trip and try it out! Might be the solution to keep me from going to Five Guys!

Glad you were able to resist the pizza. About the only thing someone could use to deter me from pizza would be red onions or banana peppers!

And I agree. Pizza With Circles is the WORST. emoticon

Your food always sounds so good. I am truly convinced that you have done so well on your journey because you have been able to recreate the foods you love into healtheir versions and you always have a plan. Good for you!

Putting too much meat on a pizza is the easiest way to ruin it for me. I do like the occasional veggie or hawaiian pizza (or a nice thing margherita), but greasy meaty pizza is completely unappealing.

You know what I love about reading this day? It sounds so... routine. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, but it's proof that the good stuff really is a permanent part of your life. Every once in a while, I'll catch myself doing something normal and healthy and realize that a couple years ago, it would have seemed completely impossible.

Sounds yummy and sounds like you are doing so well. I would add lettuce to my corn totilla and have a taco salad.

At least you found the good mood, even if it did take a little while. Nicely done!

Great job on turning your day around. It's better than starting out energized and happy, then ending up grumpy. For sure!
By complete coincidence, we had venison burgers with mushrooms and onions tonight also! Waffle fries. I forgot to cook the broccoli though. :(
Tomorrow (today) is a new start. I hope you have a great one.

Love it when a day turns out better than how it started! Hope tomorrow is a good start - you did well with this one. Just think how much better tomorrow will be. emoticon
