Things can seem rough, but then I hear some of the troubles other families are going through, and it is heartbreaking and encouraging. Heartbreaking because I can't imagine what that family is going through, and encouraging because it's not me and mine.
I don't take delight in the troubles others have, but I am glad to get a reminder of how little my family issues are.
It reminds me of the introduction of one of my "The World According to Mr. Rogers" books, in which Mrs. Rogers recounts the time she was telling her husband how mean this other woman had been to her--I don't remember the circumstances--and she ranted about the woman's attitude, and how wronged she had been... and then Mr. Rogers said something along the lines of "I wonder what kind of a day she was having." We never know all the circumstances of others we interact with, do we?
