I live in rural Illinois, and the water is terrible, and at work it's even worse! It's an old building with old pipes. The water had a color. On Mondays, when the water's been sitting in the pipes all weekend, the color is especially noticeable; a yellow or even orange tinge. I've been buying bottled water for home and work. It's a hassle to remember to buy it, to bring it, to store it in the work fridge. To my delight, just this past week, a water filling station has been installed in our building. It's a water fountain, with a filtered water dispenser made just for bottles. My coworkers and I bring in our reusable water bottles and fill 'em up. I like the kind that are BPA free. I tried metal bottles, but didn't like the taste.
Why is water important for weight loss? Water makes up 70% of your body. It helps regulate digestion, and body temp, and breathing. You lose water when you sweat, which you should be doing a lot of (I know I am) when you're getting your 3 cardio workouts each week. Substituting juice and soda with water saves calories. Water moisturizes the skin from the inside.
