So I’ve been eating clean for approximately 110 hours now…which really doesn’t seem like much so I’m going with five days…also doesn’t seem like much. Hmm. Okay well I’ve been eating clean since Friday night and *that* seems like forever ago. The biggest problem I’ve come across is the fact that I am eating a LOT more calories than I should be – typically nearing 1,800.
Once again clean eating for me is:
Whole foods (so basically products of nature, not industry), only locally raised meat, all natural sweeteners (no sugar), no refined grains, and nothing out of a box, can, bag, bottle or package that has more than 5 ingredients. I also avoid buying any of the "dirty dozen" (foods with the highest pesticide residue) unless they're organic.
Yesterday’s food intake included:
Shot of apple cider vinegar (acv) in the morning to keep from starving until lunch
A smoothie (fresh strawberries, a tablespoon of cacao nibs, a tablespoon of flaxseed, 10 oz of almond milk, and a cup of stoney field vanilla yogurt)
**IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MY MEASUREMENTS ARE BASED ON GUESSES. I DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO MEASURE NOR DO I FEEL LIKE DOING ALL THOSE EXTRA DISHES. IF I’M OVER-GUESSING OR UNDER-GUESSING THEN OH WELL. I DO WHAT FEELS RIGHT FOR MEEEE.**
1 cup homemade macaroni and cheese (whole wheat noodles, raw mozzarella)
1 cup homemade chili (kidney beans, locally raised organic ground beef, onion, garlic, tomatoes, tomato juice)
4 oz chicken breast (no skin, homemade, local and pasture-raised)
Another shot of ACV
1 apple with 4 tablespoons of organic peanut butter (I was hungry after my workout but not as hungry as I was after work, before I took the shot of acv)
7 strawberries with ½ stoney field vanilla yogurt
All of this added up to almost 1,700 calories! Which okay yeah really isn’t that surprising but honestly I went to bed HUNGRY. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s my “time” next week so my metabolism is already revving up a bit or if it’s me detoxing from all the chemicals/pesticides/GMOs/no-g
oods-but-taste-goods or if it’s a combination of everything plus exercise but I’m ALWAYS hungry. I’m hoping the acv will help even that out and that things will get easier once my stomach shrinks a bit (actually I KNOW it’ll get easier). I’m going to keep counting calories but I’m also going to remind myself that at least I’m putting quality fuel in the tank.
