Overcome by stress

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

Uncle Peewee passed away. Then my #1 Granddad. Now Grandpa Stan. Three deaths within a short time! Two within one week!!! On top of that, there were some other major family issues going on! I keep reminding myself to breath and take one step at a time. Our landlord tore up our yard to put in some drains but it has been a major inconvenience and I'm not even sure it was done right! The whole yard is one giant mud/clay mess! My oldest son told a lie at school and we had to face an investigation for it. (At least that one is over - whew!). One of my boys lost his only winter coat. The entire family came down with a cold/flu bug. Tomorrow is the viewing for Granddad and we can't go because my hubby thinks he can get off work Friday to go to the funeral with us. We have to be in the car a minimum of 3 hours each way and will be returning friday night in order to get the kids to their basketball games early Sat morning.

I woke up at 2am this morning starving and cold. At 3am I finally got out of bed, turned on the heater and grabbed a small handfull of cashews and some water before coming back to bed. I tossed and turned. Hubby got up at 4am and went to work. It's now 5am and I know I have to get up at 6:30am to get the kids moving and ready for school.

I would love to get up and go do Zumba on the X-Box right now or Step aerobics on thw Wii but my asthma is acting up and paired with this cold, it isn't really an option. HELP!

HI Busy mom, first of all, stop and breathe, take a few deep breaths any time you feel stressed. Refresh your self by relaxing breaths any time you feel anxious, or when you get irritated, before you react to situation. Trust me on this, a few seconds to calm yourself will do wonders for you and all those around you.
Your life is a lot like my daughter's who has 6 very active children. She has daily time pressures and often lets herself go by the wayside. And we have had deaths in our family as well this past year.
Nothing is easy, but it is simple. LIfe goes on, and you can chose to be a spectator or a participant. Taking care of your health is paramount , and should be a priority in your life. You don't have to do a 45 minute workout, if you have ten minutes - then a short video here on Spark People will make you sweat! But you can change the way you move and do things throughout the day, and they add up. For example , as you do laundry, fold while standing, keeping the basket on the floor and do squats as you pick up one piece of clothing at a time. Park as far from an entrance as possible, and enjoy the walk or run. Put music on when you are around the house and dance as you clean or cook, anything to keep moving.
But relax, take it a day at a time, eat smartly - fresh foods as much as possible, and play with your children, physically play at something every day. And have fun with it.
There are many people here at Spark who can and will help you any time you want, there is a wealth of information here as well. Just keep coming back and enjoy the ride. emoticon

Challenges of life can be very stressful if we have to face them alone. But glory be to God who has made it possible so we do not have to ever face life challeges alone. We have His Word and promise that He will be with us and never forsake us. God Bless YOU! Vic.
