VALENTINES (DAY)...
... A sentimental or humorous greeting card sent to a sweetheart, friend, or family member, for example, on Saint Valentine's Day.
... A gift sent as a token of love to one's sweetheart on Saint Valentine's Day.
... A person singled out especially as one's sweetheart on Saint Valentine's Day.
The other day while talking with my adult daughter she spoke of Valentine's Day. She surprised me with what she said, yet what she said really made sense and made me rethink my feelings on this subject. She just blatantly stated "I hate Valentine's Day! It's just so stupid! Why set aside one day out of the whole year to tell someone you care about, that you love them...when that's something a person should be doing every single day of the year! If someone loves me, I want to know about it daily and I don't need a card or flowers one certain day out of the year for them to prove it to me. Getting that sort of thing surprisingly, for no reason, any day of the year means a whole lot more to me then getting it on Valentine's Day." Wow, I raised a smart young lady! This is so true! Sure it's nice to get these things on Valentine's Day, but it's also a day that it is expected! Receiving these things on no certain day, just any old day, well now, THAT is better than any ole Valentine's Day EVER! But the best is to just hear daily how much you are loved, cared for, and appreciated. This is more important than any gift or given day to give gifts! Reach out today to those you love. Tell them you love them! Give them a hug if you can! Plant a BIG kiss on their cheek and tell them just how special they are to you! Do this today, tomorrow, and every day! Don't wait till Valentine's Day to do this!
My little girl, not so little anymore. She taught me a good lesson. Goes to show, you are never to old to learn! I love my little girl and I am so glad I tell her this every single time we talk.
