Losing too fast?

I never thought I'd have this problem - I think I am losing too fast. I weighed myself the day before I left on my trip and the day I got back, and there was a 700g difference. Since being back (6 days) I have lost another 1.4kg. That is 2.1kg in total, which is heaps considering I don't have much to lose. I'm sure when I weighed on my first day back I was probably holding some water weight from traveling and high sodium airplane food, but still. I'm eating plenty, I'm not exercising too much, there is no real reason why I would be losing weight this quickly...

So, I have no idea what to do besides keep an eye on it. If I'm still losing rapidly in a few weeks I'll head to the doctors for a quick check up. I only have 1.4kg until I get to my goal weight (and I will be stopping this time) so maybe once I enter maintenance it will sort itself out? No idea!

    Some of it could be to do with your cycle. Mid month, progesterone makes us retain fluid. Loose it just before or during yr period (aint it gr8 being a chick!). If you haven't been starving yrself or exercising excessively, don't worry about it. Actually, it's when the opposite happens is very discouraging. Enjoy fitting yr clothes better emoticon

    My first few months here is where I lost the most, the fastest. I dropped 12 lbs in about a month... it was a little scary! I think you may have just been retaining a lot more than you though. Also, since you were in SF, you probably burned more than you think... that's a very walking-friendly city, so you were probably standing/walking a lot!

    Its hard to say, but I know when I wasn't working out over the holidays I lost when I didn't expect to, but I'm pretty sure it was all muscle that I lost. Once I got back to the gym I realized I looked a lot more toned before the holidays. Maybe some of that is the case for you since you were here in the US and not working out like normal??

    I'm sure it will even out and be okay - but yes, keep an eye on it and see the doctor if you feel like you need to!

    I've gone thru the rapid weight loss also. I don't think I'd worry too much unless you keep losing and your not making any lifestyle changes.

    I went through a time like that. My body finally adjusted to the healthy diet, and my weight balanced out. I also went from a size 12 to a size 2-4 with little problem. The bloating in my body decreased over the past year. For a while, I wondered if I'd just shrink away.
    My body found a healthy place of balance. I feel sooo good!

    Something to add, I suppose, is that I don't get my period for medical reasons, so I don't have the cycle gain that most women have.

    Water weight is a definite possibility. I find that my weight loss is also tied to my cycle... I "lose" 2+ lbs on the week of my period usually, but some of that is due to water retention during the week before- pretty common experience. Give it another week. As long as you aren't ravenously hungry you should be okay until then.
