I LOVE the feeling one gets AFTER just finishing a workout! Even more, I am LOVING the fact that I tricked myself back into a workout. You see, I have been sick since Thursday afternoon. By Saturday, all I wanted to do was lay around and sleep...and try not to hack, cough, sneeze, and ache. By Monday, I was tired, but at least the ache was gone. I didn't do much except to walk from here to there yesterday. Today, when I got up, I still had the cough, and a bit of the sinus headache, but by the time I had gotten home from a half day substitute job in a 4th grade classroom ( I have subbed in that class many times before...so they know me) I was still feeling pretty energetic! Amazing! The best I have felt in days! So, after a very healthy dinner of chicken, cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt Strawberry Smoothie, and veggies....I decided I would try to do a small treadmill workout. I told myself I ONLY had to walk 10 minutes. I brought my ipad into the garage where my treadmill is, turned on Joyce Meyer so I could listen to her broadcast, and started walking! I went slow at first, and then upped the incline and upped the speed....until I started wheezing and hacking. Yikes. So I slowed down the speed a bit until my wheezing was no more, and kept moving. After 10 minutes...I thought to myself, okay, I think I will try for 15! Then...maybe I can make 20? But Joyce hasn't finished talking...maybe I can walk to the end? I ended up listening to the whole broadcast....AND walking until I had gone 31 minutes! Now...you ask...WHY 31 minutes? Because I knew that I could find some sort of video by Coach Nicole that had only 9 minutes to it! I knew I could do at least 9 minutes. Sure enough....I did!
That is why, I am sitting here now, basking in the glow one gets after exercising...I know...some call it sweat...and enjoying that endorphin high one gets after working out. If feels so good!
