I took my Mom and brother out to lunch today for her birthday. She wanted to go to Hometown Buffet. Okay, that doesn't mean I have to eat everything in sight or overeat. They were there before I was but only by a few minutes. That was good because it was really cold and I didn't want Mom sitting in the car getting cold. When I left the Dr.'s office, I called her and said I was on my way, it was timed very well. I also didn't want her getting too hungry and it was going onto 2pm.
Even though she is using her cane all the time now, she doesn't look 87 years old. They had a nice array of salad, different types of lettuce, cottage cheese, fruits, cucumbers, even mushrooms. I had a few of those. I did indulge and put blue cheese dressing on my salad. I had chicken without the skin, a scoop of mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, corn, green beans and a roll but no butter. I had a spoon of spaghetti with marina sauce, no cheese, couldn't find it. These were not all whole servings, just tastes. I don't remember everything I had. I had soft serve vanilla and butterscotch topping for desert. That is probably all I will eat for the rest of the day. If I do eat it will be a instant breakfast or yogurt. It was a treat for my Mom's birthday. If I could track everything, I would wager that I didn't go over in calories and if I didn't it is not by much. I am not full full, I am comfortable.
I had a nice pleasant afternoon with my Mom and brother. If it wasn't so darn expensive I would like to do it more often. Now I will see them on Saturday again. I am taking my Mom to see my son. After we see Paul we will go to Walmart and do grocery shopping and clothes shopping. It is a super Walmart and is cheaper than the stores around here. I am looking forward to it.
