week 6 - Finally Caught up to me...

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

First of all I was floored by the response to my last blog. It was amazing to have a featured blog and so humbling. It feels really good to know your random ramblings may help people out as they go through their own journeys to find health and happiness. I truly love the community here and I am so proud to be a part of it!

now on to the ugly details of the week. Well after two weeks of not being able to get to the gym (no excuses just didn't make it a priority) and eating out pretty much every meal the last week. Add to that the super bowl and at least 3-4 nights of being out on the town with my guests that were visiting us in Hawaii. The inevitable happened, I gained weight . I am not shocked by this. I am not making excuses for it. I enjoyed my company made smart choices when I could but also maxed out every moment I got with friends I have known for over 20 years. On Monday it was back to the basics. Drank a gallon of water ate in range and burned 1500 calories in the gym. So I know the extra pounds I put on won't last long. I am actually thinking I am changing my weekly weigh-ins to Thursday's. As two weekends a month I travel for 8-14 hours back and forth between Hawaii and Houston. I always get super dehydrated when I fly so I think it just makes more sense. So hopefully by Thursday I will be back where I was last week and I will go from Thursday on. I guess I could have skipped this weigh in. but I think it is just as important to show that yes not everyone loses weight every week and that life happens and THAT IS OK! I am hoping in the next two weeks to break back into the 260's That would mean that I would have pretty much maintained this whole past year as I first breached the 260's last February. I was not able to break out of the 260's last year but I that is definitely the goal this year! Anyway on to the numbers!

Starting weight 380 lbs
week 4 weight 272.8 lbs
week 4 weight 275 lbs
Difference +2.2 lbs
Total weight lost 105 lbs
lbs to goal 25 lbs

So a 2.2 pound gain. I know most of it is water weight as my scale measures body composition and I am about 2% off where I should be with water. So we will revisit Thursday!! till then best believe I am back in the gym and drinking that water!

I had to tell you, your blog helped me not give up this week and gave me some real perspective. I felt that I have had a rough two weeks (by my own hand) and that maybe I was beyond hope.. reading what you wrote made me feel like you had some lax time but that doesn't take away from your ultimate goal, to shake it off and get back in the game. I admire you greatly and thank you for being here to encourage so many people around you! We can do it!

Not gaining for a whole year is very impressive, be proud of that.
I think it's great that you weighed in even though you may have gained weight - accountability! Great job!
Those 2.2lbs don't stand a change!! They'll be gone in no time!

!!! After two weeks of no gym, guests in town and the superbowl and all you gained was 2lbs!!! you definitely were behaving for the most part so don't even worry about it. You've already hit the ground running by flushing your system with water and hitting the gym. You can and will lose those plus 2 plus some more at that rate! And it is good you still weighed just to keep a reality check with yourself, giving you reason to turn it up a notch and knock them right off!

Considering all the fun you had am I the only one who thinks 2.2 pounds is nothing. I believe you are not the same person as you were a couple of years ago. You probably made better choices and were conscientious of what went into your mouth without thinking. That in and of itself is the definition of success.....you were living your normal lifestyle and it didn't have dramatic weightgain. emoticon

You got the right attitude brother, this too shall pass! No excuses, you were having a good time with old friends and that trumps just about everything else. There's lots of time to get things in order and get back on track, but those moments with family or friends are too important to miss. I know you'll be back at it, grinding away in the gym, burning off the calories and making the positive changes that we all know and love you for! You deserved the honor of having a featured blog, you keep so many of us encouraged and motivated.

This gain is temporary, you have what it takes to get back to business and I know you will, my friend! Congratulations on your featured blog! emoticon emoticon

You were featured because you inspire us all! I'm so thankful to be on this journey with someone as honest as you. this blog is the perfect example. You gained a couple pounds and you didn't have to say a word about it. But instead, you chose to blog and let everyone know, hey, it happens. THAT'S what gives people hope that this is doable. You're great Chris!

Yesiree...that's what is so great about this site. You never know who you may inspire or who may inspire you. YOU inspire a LOT of people, Chris! And I agree with Kris, common sense is a rarity these days - yet it comes to you quite naturally!

Back on track and moving forward. You'll get out of the 260s this year - with your hard work and determination, I have no doubt! Look forward to following your journey!

As far as your last blog was concerned, you TOTALLY deserved that accolade! It was FANTASTIC and so motivational.

You have more common sense in your little finger than a lot of people have in their entire bodies - LOL!

This last two weeks has NOT been like a normal 2 weeks. This is part of life, and as we know - life happens. The positive is that you realize it, and you are making the appropriate changes to bring it back in line.

BTW - I like the rationalization re the weigh-in. GOOD thinking :-)

Kris
