I've been away from SparkPeople for a long time. I'm just starting to come back, slowly. I've been reading a few articles here and there, and thinking about what I want to accomplish this year.
Right now, I am 34 weeks pregnant. So obviously weight loss isn't my goal right now. And after I have my c-section, I will need some time to recover. But, I figure I can start working on eating healthier and making a plan for how I'm going to get the weight off after the baby is born.
My husband and I have been eating TONS of junk food in front of the tv lately. It's getting to the point where we are almost depressed when we have an evening at home and there's no junk food in the house. How pathetic is that? I think I need to not only cut down on the junk food that I eat, but also cut down on the amount of tv that I watch. There is a ton of stuff I could be doing around the house... it's just so much easier to be lazy and watch tv.
I really want to change.
My good friend BRINGTHESPARK17 put some awesome goals on her SparkPage, and set it up as a checklist. I really like this idea, and want to do the same. It would be very rewarding to see them get checked off one by one. Here is what I have come up with so far (and yes, I stole some ideas from her list!):
[ ] reach weight of 220 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 210 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 200 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 190 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 180 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 170 lbs
[ ] reach weight of 160 lbs
[ ] run a 5k
[ ] run a 10k
[ ] be able to do at least one push up from my toes
[ ] be able to comfortably cross my legs
[ ] try cross-country skiing
[ ] have my stomach measure smaller than my chest
[ ] finish the entire "No More Trouble Zones" DVD with no modifications or breaks
-Track my food at least 5 days per week
-Exercise at least 90 minutes per week
-Eat out no more than two meals per week
-Spend no more than $10 a week on snacks bought outside the grocery store
-Spend time meal planning at least once per week
-Spend time "sparking" at least 3 times per week (message boards, articles, blogs, etc)
I will likely improve on these over time, but I didn't want to overdo it all at once and set myself up for failure.
I have other goals too, but they are subjective, and harder to put on a checklist. I want to:
-feel more energetic
-enjoy the taste of healthy foods
-not hate pictures of myself
-be more kind to myself
I'm looking for new ways to get involved on SparkPeople. If any of you have any favourite message boards or teams that are particularly motivating for you, please let me know! I'd like to meet some new people and try some new things.
