My weigh in

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

So its day 8 with 7 days behind me. 7 more to go. I have lost a total of 7 lbs. wasn't happy this morning because by day three I had lost 5 lbs and only 2 in the last 4 days. Though I was disappointed this morning I had to sit back and think that January 1st I was 229 lbs and now I am 215. That is 14 lbs in 5 weeks and so that's a 3 lb loss a week. That's awesome! I can't be upset about that. I have to give myself just the same energy of excitement in success as I spend on failure. I almost quit this morning, almost didn't log in to SP, almost said no exercise today.... But NO! I am proud of myself! I have almost made it back to my halfway mark and I am worth working harder to get there.

7 more days to go to meet my 14 day goal. i will weigh Friday and again on Tuesday. Hoping for at least a 4 lb loss. Then I am taking a 2 day break!

    That's emoticon

I would like to offer you some friendly advice, toss that scale out the window.....not really of course, but weigh yourself no more than once a week, or try going 2 weeks, you will be surprised at how much better you feel, the scale will show a bigger loss number, and your mood will not be impacted as much. Trust me, I've been there.

    YOU CAN DO THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 lbs a week is alot 1 to 2 is healthy And you where ready to stop trying? I'm glad that its been quick for you but expecting that every week will only set you up for a crash and the easy thought" this is not working so I might as well just stop". be careful with your goals and thoughts emoticon

Keep plugging away. Most of the people on my main team, Living Low Carb (Atkins and other plans) have determined that low carb is their lifestyle for good. I think that's why it strikes us as dangerous or at least counterproductive to think of "days off" or "cheat days".

I'm an ex-smoker, so my "take" is that it would be like me not smoking 6 days a week and trying to smoke but control my habit on the 7th. Even if it worked I would shudder to think what every 8th day would feel like. XD I NEVER ever want to go through quitting again!!!

emoticon on sitting back, taking a deep breath, and changing your perspective. Isn't it amazing how you were initially so discouraged that you were going to chuck it all for the day?

You should be absolutely thrilled with a 3 pound per week loss! I haven't manged to lose 7 pounds in a month in all the time I've been on Spark!

What are you going to take a 2 day break from? Working toward a goal you say you so desperately want? What if you manage to gain back half of what you've lost? Then what? You got to work to lose that again! Double duty!
It might be okay to crank it down a notch for a day, but I would advise against taking a break completely.
Good luck with the remainder of your challenge! emoticon

Why do you want to take a 2 week break? You may possibly lose all of the effort that you just did. I just want to encourage you to keep it up and keep going! You can do it. You are now probably over your cravings and feeling good about how you are eating. Why put a monkey wrench in it?

OMG 7 pounds in a week IS awesome--unless you're secretly competing on the Biggest Loser show, in which case...

    it's still awesome!

Congratulations on your losses--always remember that a loss is a loss no matter how you look at it, and some weeks might be slower than others, but none of us put a lot of weight on quickly, either. I have to remind myself every day that everything takes time... even if it's just 10 minutes of exercising, it's minutes well spent.
