The Skinny Girl Inside of Me

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Let me introduce you to Skinny Tammy. She is smart, funny and even beautiful. She loves to dance and has endless energy. Getting dressed isn't such a chore because the clothes in her closet fit and when she goes shopping it is fun rather than an emotional roller coaster. When Skinny Tammy walks into a room she turns heads for all the right reasons. Her husband has always loved her, but trust me...there are fringe benefits to being Skinny Tammy.

The problem is Skinny Tammy is trapped in my head. She is the girl I see just before I look in a mirror. She is the person I want to become. Skinny Tammy is my motivation to get back on track despite a weight gain this week and really work hard at improving my eating habits. I'm not doing this for my husband or my son or even for myself. I am doing this for the skinny girl trapped inside of me that is just begging to come out.

Look out world...she's coming soon.

At times I was so down on myself that I couldn't even imagine a skinny me inside. I think it's wonderful that you DO envision a skinny you and you will keep doing what's necessary to free her from the body she's trapped in today. You will get there, because you truly can see that person. After a lifetime of trying to lose weight, I am finally beginning to see my own skinny me--to feel like that skinny person, even though I still have a long way to go. It's a great feeling. I'm happy that you've found your skinny self and are working to set her free. Together we CAN do it.

I love this. My skinny personality is bouncing around inside my head as well just dying to get out. She's been peeking through here and there, but seems just a little too shy to make a full blown appearance.
