I think I am finally getting a handle on only eating when I am hungry instead of eating just to eat. I am letting my body signal me when it is time to eat instead of eating when I think I should eat.
I believe in the past, I was conditioned to eat lunch at 12:00 pm and then dinner at 6:00 pm. However, since I get up early and eat breakfast around 6-6:30 am, that was a long span of time to not eat in between and that is when I would get in trouble and eat something from the vending machine (nothing really healthy in there) and would end up doing the same thing in the afternoon at break. On the ride home I would be starving and those fast food drive thrus would call my name.
Now I am taking 2 healthy snacks with me along with my healthy lunch and I get up and move during break. I also use half of my lunch hour to get a walk in. I bring a large glass of ice (32 oz) with me to work and keep refilling it with water. I haven't been tempted by the soda machine in the break room so I believe this is working well.
It is funny how I use to want to eat in front of the television but now go workout after work and then eat a healthy dinner. Again, I have a large, icy glass of water sitting by me if I am watching something on television.
