Strange Monday

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Things have been moving along pretty well and I've been keeping to my routine pretty well but yesterday was one heck of a Monday. I had three classes, a seminar to attend, lunch with the seminar speaker, a meeting with the seminar speaker, another meeting with a job candidate for another department, a meeting with a student and dinner with the job candidate. I was planning to go straight from dinner to the fitness center but I had leftovers that I had to take back to my office. I realized that I still needed to prep for Tuesday's labs so I never made it to the fitness center. No time to check in on my usual Sparkteams and my other Spark routines. It just felt really strange. Fortunately, despite two restaurant meals I did very well keeping to my healthy eating (had a nice grilled chicken salad for lunch and an awesome baked salmon for dinner with enough leftover to take home for DW to try). However, when I got home I was so exhausted I devoured some leftover chocolate chip cookies that I've been trying to ration. I was about to break open a back of snacks and sit down to do some grading. I realized I had not worked out at all so instead of the snack, I hopped on the dreadmill for 75 minutes while I graded (thank goodness for online assignments) and watched a little X-files (can you say multi-tasking?). It was a strange day but a good learning experience. I handled the meals well, managed to catch myself before jumping off the cliff into a snack attack and managed to fit in a nice work-out despite an incredibly busy day. What's in store for today?

Nice way to find the alternatives instead of just accepting that fitness couldn't happen!!! emoticon

Ah yes, ye olde dreadmill she does come in handy in a crunch! Dusted mine off this weekend. 75 mins...whew! Good haul! I think I once did 80. Typically 35-45, occasionally 60.

Wow! Way to stick to the plan in spite of changes in plan!
I can't claim the same success re: sugary, fatty snack attacks the last couple of days. Gotta get tough like you : )

Could be called "What happens when life interjects itself into your life." Sounds like you handle changing gears better than a biker. Admire the way you can multitask. At my age, I'm beginning to have a hard time maintaining focus on just one thing at a time. :)
