I slept in late. Consequences from this weekend.

I called my paralyzed friend Vikki, she is homeless in a hotel room, & asked her what her next steps were, and encouraged her in those. She has alot of medical, housing, and personal hurdles to overcome and phone calls and connections to make. Like me improving my life and moving on to the next step of improved permanent change, instead of gerbil-in-a-wheel living getting nowhere, and fixing problems instead of putting on bandaids, each of these steps involve alot and is like pulling nails. I can sooooo relate to how hard it is to get to the next permanent level of life improvement. She'll go to the homeless shelter if she has to, this Friday, if it comes to that.

Monday is the one full day I have at home when I can do things while my hosts are not here. Like laundry, cooking, clean out the car, etc. I have to cram those things into other weekday mornings other than Monday, before leaving for job hunting errands and work. It was nice to have yesterday "off".

I worked on boxing up stuff in my room, cleared and reorged 5 shelves, and filled 3 boxes and one trash bag.

Also worked on emptying my car from ministorage stuff I brought on Sunday.

I did 3 loads of laundry, including this week's work uniforms for the piddly pay job.

I hang up all the pieces of the uniforms together on one hanger, so I can grab-and-go one complete outfit on work days. When I go from job hunting errands to work, I put the uniform in my car on a hangar, and stop and change somewhere on the way to work.

I have 4 uniform shirts and 3 pair of black pants.

However I couldn't make the sets on hangars this time, even after doing the laundry, because two pair of work pants needed mended. I got by when just one pair needed mended; but with two, I couldn't put it off anymore; I HAD to do my mending.

I watched TV while I mended two pairs work slacks for the piddly pay job, one sweater, 3 undies, and sewed the straps down on an old bra who's straps keep sliding open - after you make the straps shorter they just go back to where they were and let themselves out again (not anymore!). I actually like mending once I start and finish something, but dread it before.

I have to finish unloading the car today before work. Have to get the weight out that will use up extra gasoline, before traveling to work.

Am working 2-11 this week, Tue-Fri. A long work week but I am so glad I have more hours added onto the schedule this week. For the last 6 weeks I've only had 3 days per week, due to holiday lulls and Jan retail lulls.

I won't be on SP much Tue-Fri, because the piddly pay job is so exhausting, and because I'll be job hunting mornings on the way to work.

I always dread going in the first day, which is worse than the others, to the piddly pay job. Oh well; I am grateful for the income even if I'm working there because it's the only job I can get right now. On the 31st I cleaned 2 drains, the back oven, and the walkin cooler floor, in prep of the monthly visit by the company trainer who rates us on everything and tries to find something to mark us down for. However she didn't come the next day, on Fri the first. I hope she came yesterday while I wasn't there! If not, then we still have THAT to look forward to this week.

At least I do feel I'm starting out the work week rested, from taking yesterday off and this morning off, and catching up on personal chores.

Have a great week my SparkFriends!

I'm with you on the mending - I don't like thinking about it, but when I get to it, it's not so bad.

I can't imagine being disabled and living in a homeless shelter. That is why I have stuck it out where I am even though as you know it's FAR from ideal. It has gotton better though since I vigorously stood up to him a couple of months ago.
