I can't wait to focus on me- exciting to almost be in 3rd trimester!

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Well in short I have been pregnant or breastfeeding for 6 years now.
I have three sons
Noah 5
Ezra 3
and Bobby (almost 2)
and am expecting our 4th and probably last baby boy!
I can't wait to meet this little guy.
I will be 28 weeks on Friday and I finally feel myself getting closer to the end.
I will be nursing this baby for the first 12-15 months of his life as long as everything goes well. I have nursed all my babies for around this amount of time.
I am so excited to be done with having babies. ( we are either done or wont be having any for the next 5 years due to school and other things)
SO, I can finally focus on myself for once. EVERY time after I had a baby I wanted to lose the weight, and I lost most of it but in the back of my head I was always thinking " Im just going to gain it all back soon"
Because we knew we wanted 4 kids and we wanted them close in age. I also gain way more than I should every single time I'm pregnant.. haha
BUT now, even with nursing ,I will be able to focus on myself. I am so sick of putting my body on the back burner. I feel my body deserves to be strong and healthy after making these healthy sweet babies. Can't wait to reward it for all the hard work ;)
I can't stop thinking about my sweet baby on the way, and being a healthy mommy to my boys!
So excited for the future, enjoying my kids and being active with them.
Now DOES ANYONE have tips on weight gain while pregnant? I have already gained WAY too much... haha :(

BY THE WAY- I will be getting my pre-baby body back. Just you wait and see! I will get down to 145 maybe even 140. I am so excited and know I am going to do it. I am so sick of people saying it can't be done after having kids. I have done it before, and even though that was years ago... I know with motivation, and a ton of hard work, that I got this!!!!

Really enjoyed coming across your page today for motivatin. I just had our first child. I was big before I got pregnant. I only gained 14 lbs. At first I worked out til I was 4 months pregnant. Then I stopped and thats when I began to get lazy and eat lazy. Then I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and thats honestly what I feel had me loose a lil weigh while pregnant and keep the weight gain low. I'm trying to go back to that now after delivering my son in Jan. even though I'm not diabetic any more but I know eating smaller meals and snacks daily was great. I look forward to having time for myself now that Nico is here. I feel so exhausted and spread thin daily with everything going on. PfftI just want to get under 200 lbs. Best of luck to you. I'll keep following you on spark =).

Congrats!!!! (again).... I know the feeling of preg/nursing for so many years... we're expecting #12 and our oldest is 19!!! LOTS of years~~
As far as gaining weight: cut back on sugars and carbs. I had a fast gain this time. By week 23 I had gained 22 lbs. I cut way back on carbs and sugar and started eating my complex carbs(low amounts) AWAY from fats. So, for a meal I would have protein with low carb veggies. At least 3 hrs after, I can have some carbs with lean protein. and so on... carbs + protein but NO fat. and Protein+fat but NO carbs. There is a great book called Trim Healthy Mama that is worth every penny and explains the science behind this plus recipes, menus, budgets, etc. It keeps the blood glucose in balance and lets the body burn ONE fuel source (either carbs or fat) at a time so the cells don't get overloaded and pack on pounds.
Dont' forget exercise! Are you exercising? I still run 3x a week and walk the other 3 plus do some lunges and pushups. I'm 31 weeks and I have not gained any weight PLUS lost a pound in the past 10ish weeks!!! I'm thrilled!!! I eat plenty of healhty greens and veggies, protein, some carbs(mostly oatmeal and berries) and healthy fats(avocados, coconut oil)...

    Yay!!!

My only tip is that it's easier to lose 5 pounds gained by eating lettuce than 5 pounds gained by eating ice cream. :)

I had my four at the same spread as you (5,3,1,infant)...it's so hard...and so fun...and so tiring! But you can do it!

Congrats on your growing family. I don't have too much advise on weight gain during pregnancy. My daughters were born 2 years apart and I gained 22 pounds with both. I was so concerned with the nutrition I was putting into them plus a lot of foods just didn't agree with me back then. Nursing is such a commitment and good thing for your little guys. I wish every new Mom would do it.

Love your attitude! Yes, you are right, it can be done, and you can do it!! I just had my fourth child two weeks ago, and I'm loving having my body back, so I know how you feel (though my kids are way spread out...16, 12, 4, and 2 weeks).

I really kicked myself into high gear in the last 6 weeks after I had already gained way too much. It helped me level things out. When I say high gear, I mean lots more walking and I started MAKING myself have veggies and fruits for my snacks, rather than junk. My suggestion, because I felt so lazy at times, is to try and portion things out, so they are ready for you to just grab them whenever you're hungry. Otherwise, I don't have many tips, I still gained too much, but like you, I am more than determined to get it all back off!
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy...it's hard knowing it's the last.

Hugs,
Beth

First off, great attitude! That is the first key to success!
Second, I have to give you major props for being pregnant and/or breastfeeding for so long. You are one committed Mom.

Good luck with the forth one and with losing the weight! I am 34 weeks with my first child right now so I will be in that boat soon.
