Clothes shopping - an entirely new experience
Tuesday, February 05, 2013
It has been over 20 years since I have been at the weight I reached this past week. It has probably been even longer since I could even consider shopping on the "normal" racks. In my closet I had three sizes of jeans - way too big, super baggy and saggy in the behind. The sweats and lounge pants I had for working out were actually becoming an impediment to movement.
With a very thin wallet I happened into Old Navy with my daughter the other day. Their workout clothes run big but are fantastic. I splurged on a pair of workout pants that I just love and plan to go back and pick up more of. Their workout clothes run big -- so the size tag said L on it (giggle, I'm not even close yet). They are comfortable and I could live in those things.
Some friends were in town yesterday and one is a fanatical thrift store shopper. I have rarely had the patience for that but I felt it was the hospitable thing to take her around to some she hadn't visited. I found a great pair of jeans in size 18. No big deal except until now my size has always had to have that darned W in it. I know that stands for women's (or plus sizing) but in my head that always meant, "wide," lol. Losing that W was another NSV for me. I found a pair of sweat pants and two pairs of shoes -- one pair identical to some walking shoes I had worn out.
Sunday I managed two hours of working out, so I felt like I could take yesterday off from working out, but here it is the crack of dawn and the inspiration from my shopping has me ready to move again. Perhaps that is the biggest win of all!
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
