All night at work tonight I was dreading going to the gym. I kept thinking "I just don't want to go!" As I was leaving work tonight, I was still very much in the "no way!" mindset. Lo and behold, when I pulled out of the driveway at work, I turned left towards the gym instead of right towards home.
Even at this point, I was still not wanting to work out. I thought "I'll just do 20 minutes of cardio, then leave. No S.L.E.D., nothing extra, that's it." I changed into my workout clothes, stretched and as if on auto-pilot, walked over to the S.L.E.D. cabinet. Halfway through my S.L.E.D. workout I was STILL thinking how much I did not want to be at the gym. Even with that mindset, I worked hard (and worked up a great sweat!). I completed my reps and headed towards the treadmill. Before I knew it, I was working on my Couch to 5K program. Running. Walking. 30 solid minutes of cardio.
Even with all of that negative self-talk, that horrible attitude heading in, my general sense of "meh", I still got a great workout in. And you know what? I'm glad I did. As I walked out of the gym, I thought "MAN! I'm glad I did that!"
