My health

Monday, February 04, 2013

Ok, I have had an EGD and a CT Scan done now and they have found that the lining of the stomach is inflammed as well as the pancreas. They told me to take Reglan and avoid fatty foods for the next two weeks and follow up with the specialist. When they did the EGD there was food in my stomach and I hadn't had anything to eat since 10 PM the night before so we're still not sure why the stomach is not emptying but that's another question I have to ask him in two weeks.

I would suggest calling the office first thing in am and asking for things to be explained to you and have a list of what you would like to now. Good luck!

Have you been checked for Diabetes? If you have it, that can be one reason you don't empty the food out of the stomach. I'm reading Richard Bernstein M.D. "THE DIABETES DIET" and he talks about that condition. He says chewing gum helps promote stomach contractions and empties out the stomach. I have Insulin Resistance and not Type 2 Diabetes but I do have many of the problems.

Don't worry since you are seeing your doctor and I am sure he will take care of what needs to be done. Call tomorrow and find out more information from his nurse if you want.

There are so many reasons to sample tissue when doing an EGD or any type of scope/procedure. I would really try not to worry and if the anxiousness is too much, give your doctors office a call. We call our patients the day after any procedures to see how they are and if they have any questions, especially when the IV sedation usually used makes them forget that we talked with them after and explained what we saw and what we did. I can't imagine they wouldn't be more than willing to help alleviate any of your fears and to answer your questions. Hang in there!

emoticon Worrying is inevitable but right now you are in a place where you need to release and hand it over to God. Not sure if you are religious or not but worrying is going to cause you more stress and until the biopisies come back, presume they you are fine and he did it as a pre caution.

depending on what you ate yesterday it is normal for you to still have food in your stomach

Relax, let God
