Eyes are fine

Monday, February 04, 2013

Had a checkup with the eye doctor today. My long range vision has improved so the top part of my glasses aren't doing me any good. The lower part, the reading part, could be tweaked a little, but it's really not necessary yet. My doctor suggested I go to Reny's or the pharmacy and pick up a pair of $5 reading glasses and see if I like those. I'm not sure I will -- just think I'd be constantly wondering where I put them when I wanted to read. Otherwise, I could get some new ones -- I have gotten my money's worth out of these, though - I've had them for almost seven years!

Did 25 minutes on the elliptical and tried to pick up the pace. I think I'll work on the pace rather than try to increase the length of time for now.

I've been invited to sell my crocheted items at the Valentine's Lunch at the Methodist Church Saturday. My neighbor asked to reserve a table to sell too so I got that set up for her. We will take our wares down Friday afternoon to set up our tables. It's a 50 mile round trip down the highway through the trees into the valley. A beautiful drive plus the sun will be out! emoticon Just have to watch out for the deer and elk.

Saturday morning we will all go in my car, maybe five of us but three for certain. It is a soup/dinner roll lunch for $5. It includes all you can eat soup and rolls, a dessert and drink so that's a good deal. There will be a bake sale. Proceeds will go to the women's group, Rebecca Lodge. I don't know what they do but it will be fun plus I get to visit with friends that I haven't seen since I moved away five years ago.

I'm also wondering how your vision improved. It usually deteriorates as we age. Last time I went for a check up a year and a half ago, my vision was pretty much the same but I opted for tri focals because it was/is hard to read prices on upper shelves at the store. I am short and the shelves are high. The bad part of tri focals is reading in bed so I use my old glasses for that.

    Have a great week.

I am curious as to what made your vision improve. Any thoughts? Perhaps you had Lasix surgery and I missed the post about it.

Also, I agree with your thoughts on increasing the intensity of the elliptical. So many training programs now are promoting the short bursts of activity every so many minutes, then returning to the steady pace you set. I believe some call it interval training, due to the intervals of intense effort.

Let us know how it goes. emoticon

Great the eye exam went so well. You must have been eating your carrots.

I think that is a good plan to keep you time but expend more energy, Just be careful, you have to be able to talk when you are increasing your efforts. I hope it works it makes sense it will and it will be over faster or at least the same time but the calorie burn should be much higher. I am happy to see you back with it HUGS Pat . emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
