I am so sore today. I went for a hike yesterday at Indiana Dunes State Park, walked about 5 miles. I tried to do a bit more than what I normally do on the foredunes, and man can I feel it today. My legs are so sore!
And, I read an interesting study today on the benefits of walking in sand...it was a 1998 Belgium study that found that walking in sand burns 2 to 2 1/2 times the calories one would burn when walking on a hard surface like concrete or asphalt. I guess my theory of getting more of a work out in sand than on the streets is right!
