I woke up today with a head ache from having nightmares all night. I got a call from my neighbor friend. She wanted to walk to the Fortune Cookie Factory and then over to the Dollar Store. I was not really all the way woke up while talking to her but I did catch Dollar Store one of my favorite places to walk to. The dollar store is a little over a mile and is a nice walk with the reward of shopping.
I got dressed and woofed a bowl of cream of wheat down and met my friend out side my apartment building. We set off walking to the factory talking and catching each other up on what was happening in our lives. We soon got to the street where the Dollar Store was and I started to turn down there when I was told we had three more blocks to go to the street where the Fortune Cookie Factory was. These are city blocks, not short.
We got to the street that the factory was on and started looking for addresses. We had to go five more blocks. I was enjoying the walk looking at restaurants and stores that I had never seen before having never walked this way. We saw a nice little restaurant that had their menu posted out side with pictures of the food they serve. It all looked good and I noted where it was with the idea of coming back some day.
We kept walking and I noticed this most wonderful smell, we were at the Fortune Cookie Factory. It was a small place with just a counter top and one rack of cookies. You could buy bags of perfect cookies for $2 or misfits for $1.25. They were nice size bags so I just bought one bag of the misfits. We noted that the misfits had no fortunes in them. The shop keeper laughed and said we had no fortune.
My neighbor friend and I took off walking again to the Dollar Store. I bought a lot of bargains and then suggested we stop at Starbucks for coffee. When we sit down with our coffees I opened my bag of cookies. They were the best I had ever tasted and only 70 calories for 4 cookies.
All in all I would say I had a nice time and look forward to going to the Fortune Cookie Factory again.
