So, if going off of Diet Coke was not bad enough, of which I have never been successful at, I am now going to do a complete Aspartame / artificial sweetener detox. It is amazing how many foods this chemical is in. What is more disturbing is how many side effects this chemical truly has and the illnesses that it can trigger, mimic or cause. What is disheartening, during all of my research, is learning how much the FDA has known and for how long. And that they have essentially turned a blind eye to the public and continue to allow this chemical to poison the people and to make us sick in so many ways.
I, for one, will not allow this to be brought into my home anymore. Myself, my children, and now my husband, who never gets sick, have been showing too many bizarre, unexplained symptoms that cannot be traced to anything. And after seeing the dizzying long side effect list for this chemical, I think I have at least found some of our problem.
I plan to track my detox here, just as I did for my Cymbalta withdrawal. If it is of any help to anyone, great, if not, at least it will be an outlet for myself.
For anyone interested, there are over 92 different health side effects associated with aspartame consumption! Seems unreal to me too, but even the FDA has released documents that show they were aware of the symptoms as far back as 1995 with thousands of complaints. Research is all over the web, some of it quackery, but much of it very much substantiated. The news stations like to point out diet drinks as being the main culprit for being bad for us, but the fact is, there are over 8000 products on the market with sweeteners in them.
Just sad to know in a country where they now regulate where you can smoke, what size soft drink you can buy, and what type of oil to cook the chicken and fries in, they still allow this chemical to be put in over 8000 foods and other household products that are making us sick, some fatally. What is wrong with this picture.
Time to make a change, and hopefully along the way, get healthy.
Wish me luck. I have read, this could be a bumpy road!
