I've been at a standstill in weight loss since around the holidays, and I've generally maintained my weight. My second half of January wasn't too great - I got the flu, and then I wrenched my back coughing. I haven't exercised since just before mid-January. My body feels achey thanks to no workouts. I'm still walking a bit thanks to dog walks and commuting, but that's not the same as strength training and stretching.
But I'm feeling better now, so it's time to get back to exercise. I'm not quite sure about continuing with the gym I joined, but I'm on an inexpensive no-commitment membership, so I'll get back there and give it more time. Honestly, I prefer group fitness classes and this gym doesn't offer them.
At work, the group in which I work has started a weight loss contest. The first weigh-in was Feb. 1st, and the subsequent weigh-ins are monthly, with the final on 5/1 when the contest ends. I'm participating in that. There's a big cash pot so far, but I prefer a low profile, so I'm not sure I'm motivated enough to go all out just for some $$$. But, there is a $10 penalty if you show a gain at weigh-in, so there's some motivation to not gain at least.
Our office is also offering WW at Work at a discounted rate. I'm considering doing that, but haven't made up my mind yet. I'm not all that keen on counting points. I last belonged to WW years ago, and that was on my own. Apparently online access is included in the membership so I'm thinking there must be tracker functionality that would be helpful if I do count points. I'm generally satisfied with tracking my eating online here at SP, and if counting points would be more tedious and time-consuming, I'm not really up for it. However, I think the weekly meetings might be good to keep me focused. Another consideration is that if I attend most of the meetings, my employer will reimburse 50% of the fees.
These two things have probably come at a good time, since even before I got sick I was just maintaining and not really motivated to take the next step to get back to loss mode.
