I'm not going to check "week 4" on my Jumpstart plan, because I was derailed by the trip. I did still get 10 minutes a day exercise, but couldn't always do the video challenge.
Discouraged a little? Yep! However, I'm looking back over the last month, and I was motivated by the program to do lots of mini-exercises that wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been on the challenge.
The hardest thing for me has been to get out of the house and walk. Once started, I love to do it, but I've been walking off and on for 40 years and I think I'm a little bored with it. Here's what I've chosen to do: renew my active participation in the walk club that I've been a member of since shortly after we moved to this area. Walking is still the number one benefit to my overall physical wellness. My club is one of the few in the area (of the AVA associated clubs) that has a weekly club walk, and they walk from 5K to 11K every Saturday, and they're also a friendly group of people.
Reading this morning, I kept hearing a thumping sound in the kitchen. Knowing I was alone in the house, and the cats were in the doorway, looking curiously in that direction, I checked it out.... nothing. I finally decided it must be the birds outside: Cedar waxwings, whirling through the air in a constant blur of motion. They migrate through every year because they love our yaupon holly berries. Gorgeous little neat creatures, they have the top knot of a cardinal, but are smooth brownish birds with a soft yellow belly. They always travel in a crowd. One year I counted at least 50 on one of our trees.
This is today's serendipity. They are harbingers of spring here.
1) Did you get at least 7 hours of sleep last night?
2) Exercise at least 10 minutes a day
3) Nothing to eat after 8 p.m.
