Half Marathon Training - Week 4
Monday, February 04, 2013
Week 4 ended with a bang! Since I had to move my Saturday run last week to week 4 I ended up running 20.27 miles for the week. Sad to say that most of the miles were inside running on a track. The colder temps and ice kept me indoors.
Track running is just not fun for me. So the runs usually end up faster just because I want it to be over with.
The highlight for this week....
My friend and I ended up running our 6 miles on Saturday at the YMCA indoor track due to cold temps. During our 78 times around the track, we ran across a toddler running with his mom. He looked to be about three years old but was having fun and told us...."I'm gonna beat you"! It was so adorable! So we raced him and of course let him win. We told him good job and continued running the track. We met up with him again about 15 minutes later when his mom was trying to get him to finish up on the track. So we say to him, "I bet you can't win this time". He looked at us and said, "lets go". We raced him again telling him how good he was doing. And he felt so proud to "beat us again" that his mom said thanks girls to us.
My friend and I chatted about this during the final laps of our 6 miles and thought it is so cool to see parents doing active things with their kids. Showing them that working out is fun to do so hopefully when they get older they won't have any problems with it. It made me smile to race that little tot and made the 78 times around the track much more enjoyable!
Ending week 4 with a
and now onto week 5!
