Time Wasters

Monday, February 04, 2013

I have been looking at my schedule and trying to figure out what to cut out so I can make time to exercise and prepare my meals for my long days of work. I typically spend 10-12 hours a day away from home and I have two kids, so fitting in the time to exercise is going to be extremely difficult.

TV is usually the easiest to cut out and I would have no problem with it but the 1 hour of TV I watch every day is pretty much the only time I get to spend with my fiance. We like to just relax and unwind together.

Computer time is a big one for me. Being a web designer and IT enthusiast, I spend a lot of time on the computer.

My typical schedule looks like this:

7:00am - wake up and get the oldest ready and off to school
8:30am - the youngest wakes up, make breakfast for him and me
9:00am - play with the youngest for about an hour
10:00am - get ready for work
10:30am - leave for work
10:00pm - come home from work, work on my freelance web design
11:00pm - spend some time with my fiance
12:00am - bedtime

So you can see that I have some trouble fitting new routines into my schedule

I'm with Sammi4444, take 5 minutes every hour and do some jumping jacks, squats, lunges wall or desk pushups, calf raises, etc... I bet you work faster, better, and more efficiently too! I know I do :-)

Your play time with the youngest would be an excellent opportunity. It does not have to be structured time at the gym. You can work in lots of squats, lots of calf raises, lots of this and that while playing with him/her.

The main thing is to get your nutrition under control. Great abs are made in the kitchen. Then you will have more energy and more desire to move more and it will all fall into place.

What can you do to start is during commercial or every 30 min behind your computer, take a break to do something like squats or jumping jacks. It'll get you up and moving and give you a break from sitting behind the screen :).
