SAD / Stevia in the Raw / Crazy Client (Warning: Blog may be a little gross)

Ok, at this morning's weekly weigh-in I was exactly 203. Still maintaining that stupid 2 lbs above my lowest weight. Argh. I'm going back to my previous calorie range of 1500-1800 calories a day BECAUSE...

...I think I figured out what's going on. I stopped using Stevia in the Raw...since discontinuing use, I've pooped every day at least once. While I was using it, I went every 3 days, and it wasn't very much. I think it was freakin' constipating me! Unfortunately during this first week of non-weighing, I was also eating 1800 - 2200 calories, so I didn't show any loss. We'll see what next week brings, but I'm about 5 days from TOM, so it might not show anything next week either.

(SIDE NOTE: How unfair is it that I get my TOM over Valentine's Day?!)

Also, I am seriously suffering from SAD.

Fall and winter seasonal affective disorder (winter depression)
Winter-onset seasonal affective disorder symptoms include:

Depression emoticon
Hopelessness
Anxiety emoticon
Loss of energy emoticon
Heavy, "leaden" feeling in the arms or legs
Social withdrawal
Oversleeping emoticon
Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed emoticon
Appetite changes, especially a craving for foods high in carbohydrates emoticon
Weight gain (perhaps?)
Difficulty concentrating emoticon

It's a struggle every day for me to move at all right now. It doesn't help what's been going on with my client.

Her accountant fired her. Yup. He refused to do her taxes this year. This man was a friend of my father's from way back, and that's why I got put on this job. I can no longer ask my dad about things since he passed in August, and now I don't have this guy to ask either. I have no idea if she's getting a new accountant or what. All I know is I'm going to work on her account this afternoon and then I'm going to pay myself so if the accountant uses up all her money, she won't owe me anything and I won't get screwed. Joy.

When the guy who hired me told me to charge her more than I was originally going to because "you'll earn it", he sure meant it.

As for now, I'm off to get my teeth cleaned, then finish up grocery shopping for the week.

Here is the menu:

Today: Cheese & lunchmeat board with fruit and bread (brie, cheddar, ham, Italian bread and fruit salad)

Tues: Grilled Turkey & Cheese with Trader Joe's Low-Sodium Tomato Soup

Weds: Mushroom Swiss Burgers w/ Tater Tots (we didn't get to them last week)

Thurs: Bean & Turkey Sausage Tostada Cups

Friday: Subway (this is a digestive experiment)

Saturday: Mushroom, Roasted Garlic & Ricotta Ravioli in a Light Cream Sauce

Sunday: Beef Roast w/ Carrots & Onions

    Subway is also a digestive experiment for me. If by "experiment" you mean like, the horrifying kind that happens in sci-fi movies. Ugh... *shudder*.... Subway.... hahaha.

Sorry about the insane client. Always stressful! At least other people are aware she's crazy, so they won't blame you.

Also sorry about the SAD. I don't think I get it too severely, which is fortunate. Try vitamin D & more light if you can! Hope it helps!

    Ugh, SAD is sh!t. I suffer from it, too. I just try to make sure I see the sun as much as I can during the day (if I can) and avoid dark places. I've also been taking women's multivitamins which have plenty of vitamin D (which is what we need from the sun). (I take gummy vitamins because I am a child and I want to.)

Also, screw Valentine's Day. Have Valentine's Day later. Valentine's Day is just an expensive Date Night, so go have an awesome Date Night on a night when everyone else isn't also trying to have a Date Night.

Boyfriend and I aren't worried because we'll be celebrating our anniversary on the 16th instead, so V-Day won't matter much to us anyways, but it's a better plan that figuring out something for that Thursday.

    I use Splenda, simple because of the convenience. I don't think it has an aftertaste like Sweet n'Low or Equal. I find Stevia to be too sweet and too expensive. I only use it in my coffee or hot tea. SADD - I always try to find a sunny window whereever I am, and make sure to bask in the sun for a good 10-15 minutes if I can. I don't know it that helps, but it sure makes me feel better! I like the idea of a "Happy Light"! I'm going to look into that!

    Hey - bodily functions are not gross, m'lady.
I too tend to cope with some degree of SAD at this time of year. Try to get some sunshine, be sure to take Vitamin D and at least the days are getting longer. The time change comes March 10th, so hang in there.

    Huh, I wonder if the Stevia has been a cause of that in my diet. I use a packet in my coffee every morning, and I have two coffees... Hm.

My little sister gets SAD pretty badly, too. It's a crappy thing. Try a Happy Light - it really works for her! They sell them at Best Buy, and I don't think they're terribly expensive.

    I wanted to say something comforting about your SADness, but instead, I just think you suck because you have a Trader Joe's :P

There's one about 2 hrs north from me, and I mean to go there some day! The downside is that I can't shop there regularly, and anything that requires refridgeration or freezing will mean bringing a cooler and filling it with ice -..-

Man.. you people and your trader joe's!

I have had a lot more luck in the poop department, and It hink it's been because I've been snacking on handfuls of chocolate FiberOne cereal lately. I do eat a ton of fruits& veggies, but I really don't eat a lot of grains, so I must not have been getting enough fiber or something. I don't know. Anyway.. the chocolate fiberOne tastes just like cocoa puffs!

My husband asked "Do you go coo coo for them?"

so, you know.. I HAD to reply:

"No, but I go poo poo for them!" Yeah, it was that awful. lol

    I have found that Stevia gives me a stomachache so I rarely use it. I do have a few Kcups left that have Stevia in them but I won't be purchasing again.

I'm starting to think that I have SAD myself. I noticed a big change starting in October and it is not getting any better. Today I am just trying to fake it until I make it. emoticon

    I use the splenda...haven't tried the stevia... I know any of the sugar alcohols mess my digestive track right up, running quite more than normal.
I also have SADD. I am on a medicine from Nov to March...at this pace, I may move it to June. LOL! You aren't alone. I fit the bill on every one of your points.
I know exercise does h elp. I drink a lot of different teas....That helps me stave(sometimes) off the carb loading I WANT to do.

    Hopefully shifting your calories around and not using Stevia in the Raw will help. I try not to use many sweeteners, but I do use a little bit of Splenda in my morning coffee and the brown sugar blend in oatmeal and on sweet potatoes. I've got it down to 3 packets in my coffee though and 1 tsp of the blend for other things. I haven't noticed it making me crave sweet things more like most say it does, but I'm not sure if it has any effects on my weight loss efforts.

I've been dealing with SAD ever since the beginning of January. I haven't really wanted to game much like I normally do and most of my favorite shows are making me go "meh". It has gotten a little better, and I think it's been because of the healthier diet & exercise. I just try to power through it, do the bare minimum of what I need to do, and after that, if I want to just laze on the couch, I don't guilt trip myself for it. Bare minimum does include exercise though. That has to happen before I can even look at the couch.

Those mushroom swiss burgers sound really good! I might have to look into trying those myself!

    Not really a gross blog, bodily functions are normal...the gross part would be if you described them to us, lol!
I use truvia...I think, I dunno, its the green packet, haha, and I have noticed a change in my bathroom habits as well...now I am trying to figure out if it happened the same time that I switched from sugar.

    I have found that stevia has caused me stomach discomfort.

I also suffer from SAD and I am so done with winter.

    Valentine's Day during Shark Week is definitely unfair!

    We are supposed to poop every day! I have Truvia and Stevia but I so much prefer Splenda so I barely even use them. But I only use it in my tea and coffee, otherwise, I don't use sweetener. I would love to try sugar in the raw but geesh it is expensive. You have been losing so consistently and may just be hitting a little plateau.
