I'm learning that success isn't only measured on the scale. Here are some bits of success I've accomplished in the last few weeks since starting this journey:
1. I started with cutting my soda intake to 1 can a day (yes, that is still enough) - - - and made it diet. There have been a couple of days that I caved for my pepsi, but with the tracking, I realize that those many empty calories take up too much space!
2. I track what I eat now, and look at what nutrients I'm low or high on. Still working on an overall diet where all needs are meant consistently, but at least I know where I'm supposed to be.
3. I have more energy. Today I got up at 5:00a.m., something that has been virtually unheard of for quite a few years now, unless I absolutely have to. This also involved an earlier bedtime so I got enough sleep. For this nightowl, that was quite an accomplishment!
4. Yesterday was the first day I can EVER remember having NO soda pop, diet or otherwise. And, I didn't feel the need to run down the street and get a bottle of that stuff I seem to love so much!
In all of this, I've also lost 5.6 lbs. Some days I would like it to come right off magically, but I know if I do that or go on one of those crazy diets.....it won't be longlasting. This is a lifestyle change for me.
So, as I head out for the day - - at a time that is an hour earlier than when I have normally drug myself out of bed (!) - - I'm happy to have the energy I do.
