Luke 11:5-10 (NAS)
Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves ; for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed ; I cannot get up and give you anything.' "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find ; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks, receives ; and he who seeks, finds ; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.

Luke 18:3-7 (NIV)
"And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' " And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off ?

Hello guys and gals.
I had a wonderful day in the Lord's house yesterday. The Holy Spirit is so sweet and was moving in power. I love Sundays and the ability to be able to go to church and worship God.

Today was weigh in day. I don't know what time I have been wieghing in every Sunday but I will be sure to remember this time. I weighed myself 4 times today just to see how my weight changed. In the morning when I got home, I weighed myself at 280.4, then went to bed. I got home from church ate me a bite of food and weighed before I went to bed again and I was at 274. When I got up from bed at 5:00pm I weighed myself again and I was at 272.4. I went to church and came back home and had dinner, and I weighted 279.8 I know I didn't drink and eat 7 pounds of food, so I don't know what happend, lol. I took the highest weight as my weigh in today and it still shows I lost 3 pounds. I am happy with that.

My Pastor and our Sunday School teacher was on the same wave length today, which does not happen often. They both spoke about prayer. Sunday School was about how to pray, and Pastor was talked about continuing to pray day and night. I wanted to expand a little about it. I found this passage in Luke and even though I am leary about teaching wealth and prosperity, I wanted to share this. Pastor's passage was Luke 18:6,7, and it is amazing to me how close these to scriptures are.

Both are spoken by Jesus, and they mean the same thing to me. In the first scripture it talks about being persistant in asking for what you need. In the second scripture there is a widow who continues to ask for justice. Both get what they ask for due to thier persistence. Ask God for what you need, and God will give it to you, that is what Jesus is telling us. Pray day and night and continue to pray at all times for your needs.

We all know there is a difference between needs and wants. Can we be so childish to pray, and ask God for what we want ,and when He doesn't give it to us that we turn our backs on Him? I am sure there are people that do this and I hope not ever be one of them. I believe there are times we pray for what we want and we do not get them, because it may not be good for us. Just like we do for our children. There are things they may want and we know it will get them in trouble and we say no to protect them. God does the same thing. He has a plan for us and He knows our needs, and if our wants do not line up with his plans then we may not get them when we want them. I believe God still wants us to ask him for our wants and our needs, and to continue asking. Praying ferently, day, and night for them. And as Jesus says, "Ask and it will be given to you."

Dear Heavenly Father, You are great and mighty Lord. Lord I pray that Your will be done in our lives and that You would continue to walk with us. Lord I ask for blessing of yes and amen over the people that read my blogs, and my family. Lord God forgive us of our transgressions and help us during our temptations. Lord we give you glory and honor in all things You do for us. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

I always weigh when I first wake up. At least that way it is consistent. Water, especially can add a few pounds in a hurry. Barometric pressure will also effect weight. We fluctuate a lot during the day! Great science fair project!

Love reading your blogs...I know the verses and understand them by the grace of GOD and very thankful because there was a time when I didn't understand....when I read your interpretation of the verses it inspires me. I love hearing others points of view and feelings on bible verses.

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your thoughts and be inspired by the Holy Spirit through your blogs and prayers.

Hugs from your sister in Christ Jesus

I know too many who do not know the difference between wants and needs. If they want it, it is a need.

So glad you addressed the issue of praying for needs, not wants. Please continue to resist the lure of prosperity theology. Careful reading of the Scriptures reminds us that the invisible Church, the true believers of ALL denominations, will suffer. Of course, some will have more money, better houses, cars, or clothes. But that is not evidence of stonger belief. It also dos not address the issue of those who choose to live simply and still show us that they will never be able to out-give God! Church membership, or even church activity will never be more than evidence that the visible Church is far larger than than the invisible.

I just love reading your blogs. I don't necessarily agree with everything you write, nor would you agree with what I might someday choose to write. But your heart comes through, and I'm delighted to call you my brother!

emoticon This is a great lesson today. emoticon

I have proved all this to be true in my own life. There was a time when I tired of asking over and over, that I quoted the Bible passage about "vain repetitions" as a reason to give up on my fervent daily asking and seeking and knocking in my prayers, saying "my Heavenly Father knows what I needed in advance." But over the years I realized there was a balance to experience between the 2 opposites, and as usual, God 'moves and resides' in our moderation and not our extremes. While He does know what our needs are, He often will delay the answers - sometimes for years. I have learned that usually at those times His answer was delayed because of the law of sowing and reaping, and I didn't deserve the answer for deliverance or for the blessing that I sought. Once I got serious with the Lord, and my will and actions truly aligned with His will for my best, the answers - sometimes after years of praying- did come. There is so much to learn in our walk with the Lord, that I expect we shall be awed for eternity once we are in His presence there. What a Day that will be!

Thanks for this thought provoking topic..."God deals with us severally as He will", and I know others' experiences would differ from mine.

I look forward to your blogs. Bless you and yours, Joanie (-and thanks for friending me.) emoticon
