Here's the blog I promised. I decided to back up my new computer on Friday, not realizing that it was going to take two days to do it!
We took off Wednesday morning at about 10 am and got in to Honolulu at about 2 that afternoon. We got to our rooms and walked around Honolulu.
The above picture was taken from our room.
We also went down to Waikiki and watched the sunset. It was beautiful!
We did a lot of walking while we there. We walked to the Honolulu Zoo,
and the International Market.
When we didn't walk, we went to places like Dole Plantation,
and the Mighty Mo (The Missouri).
Along with the sightseeing, we did managed to get a football game in. The day before the game, there was Ohana Day. Ohana means family. Basically, all the football players were introduced to the fans, and the cheerleaders and mascots kept the fans entertained. Outside of the stadium, there was a flea market where Pro Bowl items, T-shirts, leis and other things were sold. The next day was the game and six of my Seahawks were there, and they all had a great showing! Our seats were on the NFC side of the field, four rows from the field. Great seats! We had a few sprinkles but that was it.
We managed to see a lot of things, but we missed out on a few things too. We had planned on going to luau but it rained most of the time we were there and they were canceled. One 24-hour period had seven inches! There was a flash flood warning while we were there. Also, by the time we went to The Arizona and got over to The Missouri, we were too late to tour it. We did stand outside and marveled at the size of the ship.
We also didn't make it to Diamondhead. We had planned to go on Thursday, but the rain started on that day and none of us had rode a city bus and didn't know that you had to pull the little rope above us to let the bus driver know that we wanted to get off the bus. We ended up making the loop from Honolulu to something like Sea World and back.
If the NFL decides that the players made an effort this year and lets Hawaii host the Pro Bowl again, DH and I have decided that we will go back next year. It was a lot of fun, and we definitely want to go back.
