Just short of a month!

Monday, February 04, 2013

In January I was just short of exercising every day of the month! I got to the 27th and fell asleep on the couch watching TV - no exercise that day! Boy was I kicking myself!

So then I figured I'd do it again in February, but I didn't realize it WAS February until the 2nd! So I started again today. Back to it!

In good news, Now that I have a good job with benefits, and they finally kicked in, I was able to get a physical, and surprisingly, everything has been turning out good so far. My blood pressure was in the safe zone for the first time since I started taking meds over a year ago, so that was good. My cholesterol was good, basically every test they did came out fine, including the pre-diabetes test that gives an average of your blood sugar readings for the last some number of weeks. I don't know how they do that, but I'm glad it came back normal. I'm still waiting to hear about the other tests, and next week I go in for my first mammogram! Yikes! She said I wouldn't have had to have one at my age, except I have an extra risk factor because I didn't have kids! That's so unfair! But she says if it's clear I won't have to do it again for a while, so that's good. Might as well get checked out.

At the doctor I asked the nurse not to let me see my weight, and she tried her darndest to NOT let me see it. She really did! But at the end, she handed me a printout with an overview of everything the doctor had done, and there it was! Oh no! She felt terrible, because she'd tried so hard! I just laughed it off. It's like taking off a bandaid, it's better to get it over with, and now I know, and I didn't crumble. I have gained back almost 25 lbs of the 50 lbs I'd lost before I got my desk job :( But I can lose it again, I know I can! It's the exercise that I need to get back into my routine. Luckily we are coming out of winter, and the days are getting longer, that will make it easier.

Hope you all are having a good year so far!

Good job in January. Maybe walk in place while watching tv before you sit down? Just a thought.

I'm sorry you accidentally saw your weight, but it sounds like you're letting it roll off of you well. 26 straight days of exercise - wow! Good for you!

This last year has been one of huge changes for you, but it seems like you have settled back into a good solid routine now. I have to go for my first mammogram next fall and I'm not looking forward to that either.
