Walking the Walk

Monday, February 04, 2013

There are two meanings for that and I am working on acomplishing both of those things. The one is that I am literally going to go back to my original base work out of walking. I am hoping I can keep up with it and I think I can. My goal is to walk 10,ooo steps a day. That seems really easy at first...until you try it. That is 5 miles a day. If you are like me you more than likely thought that you already walk that in a day. I decided to invest in a fitbit zip and find out. I put the fit bit on and on my most active days when I work I only get in about 2-3 miles. I know that seems a low amount, but that is what I came up with. In order to bridge the gap I have decided to walk on the treadmill every night to make up for the steps i didn't take during the day.

With this in mind, I have only gotten up to a 10,000 steps about 3 days this week. I plan on improving wach week ahead. My legs are sore from walking, but I expect that will only get better. Once I have made it to my goal consistency, I will decided if I need to step it up.

Once I make it I will truly be walking the walk!! Talking about it only goes so far!

You go girl! I know I thought the same thing when I got my pedometer. "10,000 steps....no problem" I really thought I got that much walking in anyway. Boy was I wrong. I found great motivation from my pedometer. It's messed up now and I have been considering a fitbit, but have also seen that you can get an app for the Ipod that works as a pedometer. I've been considering an Ipod for a long time. Besides the music, I like the idea of being able to log my food on Spark from it as well. ( Of course the hundreds of other apps look cool too!) Sometimes once I get in front of the computer, it's hard to step away. lol Thought if I could just do it quickly from the Ipod, I may just continue on with my day. Gadgets, gadgets....I love em. lol Keep up the good work and have a great day! emoticon

It's like charting my food. It doesn't seem like much - until I actually log it and then it is such an eye opener!!! I have heard about the fitbit. I'm afraid it would be just another gadget I wouldn't use. You'll have to let me know how you like it.

SO......LET'S WALK THE WALK!!!!! We can do it!

I'm one of those people who think I already take that many steps a day. Now that you mention it though, I probably don't, haha.

Keep up the positivity and effort!
