The Sugar Report, Day 4

Well, I did extremely well on sweets today! I was tempted - oh yes, I was tempted. Especially at Red Robin, which is full of My Favorite Things (milkshakes and sundaes and bottomless floats!). But, although I thought about it, I didn't indulge. Nor did I feel like I "had" to have any of these things. I simply thought of them as nice treats which I did not need to have today.

My one sweet indulgence came about 2 hours after lunch. I take a medicine that causes me to tend to not get hungry until my blood sugar drops. All of a sudden, I was feeling sick. I turned around, and the first thing I saw were a couple of Thin Mints. I grabbed 2 of them (not even a full serving!), and I felt better in minutes. I'm pretty excited that I didn't feel like I needed to eat a whole tube!

So, what I've learned this weekend is that exhaustion after spending the day with first graders is a big trigger. On weekends, when I have more energy, the temptation just isn't as strong. What I'm hoping to gain out of the Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge is a knowledge of how to handle those cravings on the work days.

    Just know that you're doing what you need to do in order to change your life style...that's how it works!!
