I have felt so good lately. I am exercising almost every day, doing things I enjoy like running, kettlebell, yoga, strength training. I have been eating pretty well too. I think that is the main reason I feel so good. I have been watching carefully what I eat, but I am not depriving myself of things I want. I read on a blog that this girl would fill her plate with veggies and eat them first before she would eat the meal she wanted. She said she still got a taste of the foods she wanted but she wasn't tempted to eat as much. I really like this idea.
I watched two movies on Netflix last night: Hungry for Change, and Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. They both preached clean eating and micronutrients. It made a lot of sense to me and it made me proud that I don't rely on processed foods. Not to say I don't eat them, because I do.
But the majority of food in my house are whole foods. I even bake my bread products to prevent HFCS and the like. One thing I thought I was really going to miss when I got back to being a healthier me was my cooking date nights with Dave. He and I really enjoy spending time in the kitchen. So now we just cook healthier foods! This weekend we made Flaxseed muffins for our breakfasts this week and whole wheat pitas for our homemade hummus. It's more enjoyable knowing that he and I are going to be eating things that will nourish our bodies.
It doesn't feel like a struggle this time round, friends. It is because I am not focusing on my weight, I'm not focusing on food, I'm not focusing on how my clothes fit or how I look in the mirror. I am focusing on loving myself, my body, and my mind and wanting to give it the best things that I can. I put the scale away. I might break it out in a month, I might not. All I know is right now I feel good. I feel strong and I feel healthy. That's all I need to know.
On a related note, Dave and I are going to start juicing for breakfast to get all the micronutrients in for the day. Does anyone out there juice? Do you have tips or tricks or recipes to share?
