How To Add Time To Your Life

Sunday, February 03, 2013

Which of these two habits could shave the most time off your life?

a. Watching TV
b. Smoking

Answer: a. According to a surprising new analysis of health records published in October, every hour that an adult over 25 spends sitting and watching television can cut about 22 minutes from his or her life span; smoking a cigarette reduces life span by about 11 minutes. The reason, according to the scientists who conducted the study, is that hours of sitting lead to an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease and so may have an even greater impact on longevity than smoking.

Time to get moving before the Super Bowl starts (and maybe even DURING the game, as long as I am NOT in front of the TV!).

Enjoy your Sunday.........and do whatever you can to ADD minutes to your life. emoticon I am taking my Fur-Buddies for a walk in our woods.

Well, I have been smoke-free for over 10 years now, and I certainly try to keep moving... but I do love to sit and read. Need to get up more frequently and get the blood moving!!!

does it apply to sitting by your computer? I would think so....
If that is true what are the people that work on the computers to do?
I think this would be for people who do not have active jobs. they are the ones that need to active when not working.
I am also wondering
what if--- they have a job that they sit a lot. but then do 30-60 minutes a day cardio and other exercise. does it still take away 22 minutes for them?

I know you probably don't have the answer to these questions... You just want us to MOVE! right?

I will- pass this on to those that need some motivation. Thanks!
