Challenging Week Behind Me

Sunday, February 03, 2013

Last week was nothing short of a challenge for me. I had returned to work after taking a week's vacation (during which I did many much needed household things such as painting, heavy cleaning, etc), and I really had not realized just how much the negative atmosphere at work had affected me. Work place stress really has a profound effect on people. I have to continually remind myself over and over many times a day that I do not have to partake in it, but it's tough somedays. We have alot of small town petty politics going on right now, so I am getting pretty tired of dealing with the fall out from it. I want so much to change jobs, but I need to be able to find something that provide enough income to live on.
In addition to stress, I seem to have pulled a muscle in my shoulder last week somehow, and spent a couple of days in pain everytime I moved. I really must remember my age when I'm at the gym I guess. I think I lifted too heavy a weight and overdid it last Monday night because DOMS set in on Wednesday morning. The fluctuations in weather temps didn't help much either. We literally went from a high of 89 degrees on Thursday to a high of 48 degrees on Friday. Yes, we have beautiful but crazy weather in Florida! However, that crazy weather plays havoc on my joints. Darn it, I think I'm aging again!
I am hoping I will have a much better week coming up. I am going to spend the day boiling some eggs for breakfast, making some chili for today and tomorrow's dinner and portioning out my fruit and veggie for the week. I have been lax about going to the gym the past week or so, and I have to make myself get there this week & then not overdo it. I have remembered to wear my Fitbit, but a couple of days last week I didn't even hit the 3000 step mark, so I need to work on just MOVING. There is absolutely no reason why I cannot get it together and just get on with it - I know people whose challenges are so much greater than mine so I need to just squash the excuses and do what needs to be done! Enough said - I hope everyone has a butt kicking, goal achieving week!

I agree with you stress in our daily lives does effect each of us but in different ways. I found I use the stress as an excuse to exercise. Walking even if just around the block helps relieve the stress. Good luck
