Well, it's February! My birth month! The snow month (sometimes), which is exciting for someone who grew up without snow. The Superbowl is today!
And I'm forcin' it, as my students would say. I have no favorite team for the Superbowl! My stomach and head are achey and I've still got LOADS of work to do (both at home and at school)! I feel like a super whiney spoiled child!!!!!!!!!
I'm SURE the tiredness and the backache came from too much time at school yesterday (4 hours, today I'll only go in 'for a minute' -- LOL). As a middle school teacher, I like to be a few steps ahead of my "canguros" (pet name for students). Also, I'm part of a special program that teaches Spanish in Spanish to 3 different levels, Social Studies in Spanish, and an Introduction to Spanish for High School credit. Yes that IS five different levels and five different preparations (!) but others have more.
Teaching came to me later in life. I had wanted to be a stay-at-home mom but we couldn't afford that and I refused public assistance (pride is a stupid thing, isn't it). So I was a secretary for 15 years. I HATED it, but that's how I learned computers and other important "life skills". Then came the moves for my husband's job (3). Eventually we made it to Indiana (by way of PA and MN). Finally I was able to have my ducks in a row enough to try teaching.
Teaching changed my life. And for the better. I always say "the worst day teaching is better than ANY OTHER JOB ON THE PLANET" and I mean that with all my heart. I love my students, my work, the Spanish language. I can work and forget to eat, that's how much I love it (AND THAT IS SAYING A LOT)!!!!!!!!!!
So I may not feel too "rosy" today. My grandbaby girl is sick but coming over (yay). I still have "chores" to do. But I love my job and I WILLbe there for ONLY an hour today. And I love the Superbowl Halftime show, and the commercials, and the crazy way everyone gets when the game has started. And my husband's face when the game goes right OR WRONG !!
Now, let's go make so cauliflower poppers and pumpkin chocolate muffins and maybe some little, tiny . . . i don't know, but I'll figure it out!!
It was awfully nice talking to everyone here today! Hope EVERYONE has a good day! Happy Superbowl Sunday! Let's go TEAMS!!
"Ten mucho cuidado" means "take good care"!
Sincerely,
Riisa
