I cannot believe it but it's true - I have gone three whole days without having one single piece of hard candy, no cookies or ice cream, no rice cakes or granola bars, no chocolate...and not only have a survived, but it hasn't been terribly difficult either. At times it is challenging but I just ride out the craving, have some water or distract myself, and it fades away.
I am not overeating on other things, just trying to eat healthy portions and concentrate on higher protein and higher fiber foods. I'm also watching my fruit intake, allowing myself this natural sugar but not binge eating grapes or having too much fruit. I've cut back on snacking because I am eating bigger meals which is good because I'm filling up on healthy stuff and have less need for sugary pick-me-ups throughout the day.
Side effects? Well a slight headache but that went away. Otherwise I'm not sure if this is a good side effect or not but my night sweats have improved almost immediately! Is there a connection between too much sugar and menopause symptoms? I don't know but my sleep is improving and that's huge!
