My Workout Music

I always, always, always listen to music when I workout. I have a bunch of playlists on my MP3 player sorted by bpm (beats per minute) and I play different ones depending on what type of workout I'm doing. I've been called anal by some of the people I workout with, but I LOVE having it sorted in a way that makes sense.

My music is mostly rock and heavy metal with a little classic rock and alternative thrown in.

Probably the most surprising song on my playlist? (And one that I play every single time I workout) is Love Today by Mika. It's a great warmup song and one that I never, ever get tired of.

Side note: I also really like Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) by Mika. It's my "feel good" song. :)

    I've got a subscription to Slacker and have play listed much of the music that has been "Spark-rated" as the best of the best. It's amazing how much more I enjoy the workouts now. I used to think that Gangnam Style was a useless song till I realized that I actually RUN to that one. *who knew emoticon

    I agree with you on how to arrange your music, it depends on the workout what music you need. I watch tv while walking on the treadmill unless someone else already has the tv, then I listen to my mp3.

    you would laugh at my ipod I have such a collection ,all different. I have country ,hard rock, rap, 80's and 90's Italian music. a couple kids song thrown in to make me laugh a lot of my songs are played on the radio every day when I hear them at work I concentrate on how they make me feel when I am at the gym doing cardio and I hold on tight to that feeling until I get to the gym and then bliss .

    If you like techno music at all, check out PODRUNNER on itunes. They have lots of mixes at different bpms and some great intervals like first day to 5K, begintervals, and freeway to 10K. It does help me with my walk/run training.
I agree it's hard to walk with others for "fitness" tho sometimes company can be fun for an extra walk.

    I like the same types of music you do and I love the way that you have your music sorted, wish I could do that but instead I just "flip through" till I get to one I want at the time.

    I love walking to music too. I know people who want to walk together, but I'm like... um, I won't be able to listen to my music!

    Music is good for the soul! I cannot work out without my favorite tunes. But I must say I never thought to sort them by BPM. It makes total sense when you think about it... you have the warm up, the high cardio, the cool down, the stretch... each phase requires different BPM. I love it!
