Boot Camp Classes

Saturday, February 02, 2013

I've been going to some boot camp classes here in town for a few weeks now. The lady that teaches them teaches 1 free class a week at the hospital that I work at (for hospital employees). I went to that one first and really liked it, but it's hard because it's in the evenings (5:30-6:30pm) so it interrupts family time. She also teaches a boot camp/butts and guts class on Saturday mornings from 10:30am-12:00pm. I've been to those a couple times. It was funny because last week she had me show everyone the advanced moves while she was teaching (she has a bad knee that was flared up and was wearing a brace). During the stretching part of the class she said "Erin, I've been stalking you on Facebook and I see that you're a fitness instructor." I told her how I teach Turbo Kick in the summers for moms while the kids play at the park. THEN she said that she might have me teach some classes in her gym sometime, to which I said : emoticon !" Not sure if she meant just when she has flare ups in her knees or if it would be a regular thing, but it sounds really fun!

Today, she did a boot camp fundraiser for a little girl who needs a liver transplant. I went and it was a lot of fun! Three other friends met me there. The instructor had me show the advanced burpees, lol. She brough the little girl (age 13) out, and it was so sweet. I about cried during her prayer at the end when she prayed over her. I was so happy to be a part of helping this little girl!

Anyways, wanted to share a picture of the fundraiser from today. I'm in the second row, all the way to the left in a pink tank top (there's a little girl right next to me).

What a great fundraiser, Erin. It's great that the owner of the the new fitness center sponsored it and is also interested in having you help out. Way to go!
