Good walk & trying Zumba

Saturday, February 02, 2013

It was beautiful here today, sunny and 51 degrees, no wind or rain, perfect day for a walk. Usually if I wanted to run to the store to shop I would get in the car and go there but today since it was so nice I decided to walk there. My 12 year old daughter went with me and it was 30 minutes there and then we browsed around for awhile then 30 minutes to walk back and the last half of it is uphill.

It felt great to get out and walk and enjoy the sunshine!!! emoticon When I got home I looked up Zumba on Youtube to see if there are any videos about it so I could get an idea of the steps and how hard it is and what it is about. I love to dance and figured this would be a good exercise for me, especially if I can watch some of the videos online and exercise with it and get used to it before I ever try a class.

The videos were fun, the steps aren't super complicated and I did a 15 minute tutorial and it did not kill me! It was actually fun and since I love dancing and you get to move a lot and add your own "flavor" as they call it I will definitely keep trying it. Food was really good today, lots of veggies and fruit and once again not feeling deprived. I even let myself have a couple of butterscotch candies for my sweet tooth and that makes me feel like I am indulging.

On a bad note, my husband is very sick with the flu and feels like crap and is grumpy, sore, and tired. I got my flu shot at work and got a mild case of it a few weeks ago so I am really hoping that I don't come down with it too. I have plenty of sick leave at work so that is not an issue, but it is payroll cutoff the first part of this week and I have to be at work!

Now I am just hoping to not be too sore tomorrow. I found the route tracker on the fitness page and oh boy is that a fun tool emoticon And the groundhog did not see his shadow so we are supposed to have an early Spring - yay! emoticon

Good for you! It's so important to just get out of the house and be more active, and you're setting a great example for your daughter. Good luck with Zumba!

I'm so jealous of the weather you're having! Glad you had a good walk - take advantage. 3 inches of snow here this afternoon.

Zumba is a lot of fun - I'm not coordinated at all, but I do like to do the routines, it goes by quickly. Have fun!
