Feeling the Pain - Again 02-02-13

Saturday, February 02, 2013

I began working out again on January 5th. It was a volleyball practice that took so much out of me as I had not worked out for three weeks prior. Since then, I have been consistently working out and even lost six pounds and almost a full dress size. So why am I hurting so much after today's workout.

My first workout was at 1:00pm today. My trainee was running late so I decided to start the workout I had planned just to make sure everything gelled. I used heavier weights and even added leg weights to keep the cardio a little more intense. I usually only demonstrate moves but today I found myself participating more than coaching. The only thing I still can't do is jump rope but I ran in place with high knees. The other two ladies were beat by the end of the hour. I was wondering how I was going to get through a two hour volleyball practice.

The girls started showing up around 2:30pm. I went around speaking to them as they were practicing serves. Most of the workout for me in practice is tossing or setting the ball. Well, today I taught the girls to set so I didn't have to do much of that. Because our turnout was small and only the lower level girls showed up I was able to run game situations with them which we hardly ever get to do. The conditioning was more intense as well so I can't wait for the texts about how sore they are.

So, now I lay here watching Ground Hog Day feeling my muscles get more sore by the moment. I am so glad that I do not have any commitments tomorrow because I think I'm going to fill the bath tub and soak in a mustard bath.
